Meet Our Midwives
Britt (Bee) Jackson
Certified Professional Midwife, LM
She/Her
Bee began her midwifery training in May 2016 via the traditional apprenticeship model at a busy birth center in Minneapolis, MN. Training in a high volume setting allowed her to work with a diverse client-base, and to complete specialized training centered around culturally-congruent care. Bee's training gave her the opportunity to attend many more births than was required for her to graduate. This experience taught her the knowledge and wisdom of the ancient art of hands-off midwifery, while allowing her to develop a very strong clinical skill set to lean on in the rare event that an emergency arises.
After sitting her board examination and obtaining her Certified Professional Midwife & MN Traditional Midwife License in late 2020, she opened the first Black-owned home birth practice in Minnesota and practiced for 4.5 years in the home setting before joining the Snuggle House Foundation's clinical midwifery team. As one of two Black midwives practicing in the home birth setting in Minnesota, Bee sees midwifery through a unique lens and has found that her commitments to community activism and racial justice have walked hand in hand with her midwifery practice. She believes that our identities and lived experiences are deeply relevant to our health, and should be a foundational component of our healthcare. Her deepest commitments in her midwifery practice are to practice through a decolonial, justice-oriented lense in community with other Black birth workers, to practice both midwifery and justice work with integrity and transparency, and to meet each family she cares for with acceptance, love, and compassion. Bee specializes in culturally congruent care, anti-racist midwifery practice, working with LGBTQ families, birthing people in recovery, all family structures, and body-positive midwifery care.
