About Our Midwifery Clinic
Snuggle House Foundation offers affirming, holistic, culturally-rooted midwifery care to all Twin Cities families, regardless of your chosen birth location.
Prenatal Care
Everyone benefits from the midwifery model of care! Our midwives offer holistic, individualized prenatal care from the early first trimester throughout your entire pregnancy. Our care model focuses on building authentic relationships between provider and client, with an emphasis on culturally-affirming practice, a collaborative care relationship, and informed consent.
Our midwives offer 45 minute long visits to get to know you, your hopes and dreams for your birth and your growing family, and to support your ability to have a healthy, happy pregnancy where you feel seen, heard, and supported. Visits happen in our cozy office setting in SE Minneapolis. We see our clients every month until 28 weeks, bi-weekly from 28-36 weeks, and then weekly until your birthing time.
In our care model, you are the driver of your care. We offer all standard labs, testing, and ultrasound, and offer an informed consent process so that you are able to make decisions about your care feeling confident and supported.
We are a family-centered practice, and welcome family, children, friends, doulas - whoever will make you feel most supported - to all visits!

Home Birth
Our midwives provide home birth services to families with low-risk pregnancies who want to welcome their babies at home. We support non-interventive, physiological birth, and always center your birth choices in your care.
The midwives support you during your birthing time with holistic techniques to assist with comfort and labor progress, quiet presence, patience, and encouragement. We perform routine monitoring - like fetal heart monitoring and vitals - while you move freely and without constraint. We encourage eating and drinking, hydrotherapy, aromatherapy, doulas, and more during your labor.
Water birth is available for anyone who wants one. Once your baby is born, we tuck you into bed together to eat a nourishing meal and to establish nursing. The midwives stay for 3-4 hours after the birth and provide monitoring and exams with baby always in your arms or on your chest.
More than 90% of home births occur without any complications. For the 10% that don’t, our midwives carry medications and equipment to manage complications and maintain NRP/BLS certifications.

Hospital Birth
The Snuggle House Foundation works with Certified Nurse Midwife teams at most Twin Cities hospitals to provide a seamless, collaborative midwife-to-midwife transfer process for clients opting to birth at the hospital of their choosing.
Our midwives work with your chosen in-hospital nurse midwifery team to make sure your care experience goes smoothly. Snuggle House clients receive the benefits of holistic, community-based midwifery care in a lower volume, intimate setting. Snuggle House clients meet with their in-hospital midwifery team 1-2 times during pregnancy, and have the opportunity to tour the labor and delivery unit prior to their birthing day. Our midwives will assist you in birth planning to ensure that you feel confident and prepared for your birthing day!
Our amazing Certified Nurse Midwife partners are deeply committed to the work that we do, and are enthusiastic about partnering to give our clients the best birthing experience possible.
Once our clients are discharged from the hospital, they transfer back to our midwives for routine postpartum and newborn care.

Postpartum Care
Our midwives provide postpartum care for the first six weeks after birth, focusing on your healing, how you’re adjusting to parenthood emotionally, your support system and needs, lactation, and more. Our model of care emphasizes the wellbeing and care of the postpartum parent. We provide in-home care for the first week after birth, and in-office care for the 2 and 6 week visits.

Newborn Care
The midwives provide newborn care for the first six weeks after birth, including birth certificate filing for babies born at home, newborn screens, lactation support, and more. We care for the postpartum parent and baby together at each visit, protecting the sacred dyad of parent and baby. Our newborn care is gentle, respectful, and honors baby’s experience as a new life that just entered the world.
